A birthday, a big box, and a first ride.
It is Sam's birthday. He is eight years old today. He is very happy.
In the morning, Sam runs to the kitchen. His mother and father are there. On the floor, there is a big box.
"This is for you, Sam," says his father. Sam opens the box. Inside, there is a new bike! The bike is blue and green.
"Thank you! Thank you!" says Sam. He is so happy. He wants to ride the bike now.
Sam and his father go outside. The day is warm. Sam sits on the bike. His father holds it.
"Are you ready?" asks his father. "Yes!" says Sam. His father lets go. Sam rides the bike.
At first, Sam is afraid. The bike moves fast. But he does not fall. He rides down the street.
"Look at me!" Sam calls. "I can ride! I can ride my bike!" His mother watches from the door. She smiles.
Sam rides for a long time. Then he is tired. He puts the bike near the house. "This is the best birthday," he says.
