Anna's Morning

A very simple day, told in the present tense.

Anna lives in a small house near the river. Every morning she gets up at seven. She opens the window and looks at the sky. The birds sing in the tree by her door.

She goes to the kitchen and makes coffee. She likes bread with milk. Her cat sits on the table and watches her eat.

At eight, Anna puts on her coat and walks to work. The street is quiet. She sees an old man with a dog. She says, "Good morning!" The old man smiles.

Anna works in a small shop. She sells flowers. She loves her work because she loves flowers. People come to buy roses, tulips, and daisies. Anna always tells them the name of every flower.

At noon, she eats a simple lunch and reads a book. She reads slowly, one page at a time. In the afternoon, she helps a young girl look for a flower for her mother.

When the sun goes down, Anna closes the shop and walks home. She feels happy. Her cat waits at the door. Anna opens it, and they go inside together.
